Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive a sled-dog team across the frozen tundra?
Every year in March, dozens of dogs and their mushers make the 1049-mile trek from Anchorage to Nome for the race of their life! It goes back to the early days in Alaska when on February 2, 1925, a sled-dog team mushed their way in the dead of winter to bring a much-needed serum to the children in Nome. It saved many from the deadly diphtheria disease.

The Iditarod Sled Dog Race today is a commemoration of those
days years ago.
