Meet Marisa, Chris, and the kids! The Jackson family has been owner operating Alaska Air Taxi since 2023 after purchasing it from the previous owner Jack Barber (see history below). We are carrying on the mission of top-notch service to all corners of Alaska with a get-it-done spirit!
Chris and Marisa both share extensive experience flying the remote areas of Alaska. This allows Alaska Air Taxi to make safe and sound decisions. As a federally licensed air carrier, our safety policy to our customers is top priority. There are strict guidelines that we must adhere to as a Part 135 Operator. Pilot training, maintenance, drug/alcohol testing, and insurance are just a few of the stringent regulations and requirements follow.

History
Alaska Air Taxi was started by Jack Barber. Beginning as a single Cessna 206 operation between 1970-1973, Alaska Air Taxi has been servicing Alaska for over 50 years! Jack began the business targeting tourism recalling, “I was the new guy in town, and Ketchum/Rust’s both were doing well in the tourism market and it was growing.”
By 1990, Jack had a fleet of two Cessna 206s, one Beaver, and a Navajo. Throughout the next three decades, several more aircraft had joined the fleet such as Skyvans, Otters, and a Beech 99 operating out of our current hangar, Seldovia, and, at one time, an additional facility in Deadhorse.
Work included a lot of oil contracts, exploration flying, contracting crew transportation, flightseeing, bear viewing, and lodge travel. Jack's experience and commitment to building this industry and business for over 4 decades was astounding. He and his staff were always ready to assist you with personal service and a friendly smile. Over the years, Jack moved into providing more and more charters in the Navajo. This is the service we carry on today! Our top-of-the-line Navajo aircraft is versatile for year-round, airstrip to airstrip charter flights. We are grateful for the foundation Jack laid in growing Alaska Air Taxi!
